Baahubali’s international release on cards : Rana

Rana Daggubati earned nationwide acclaim for his menacing performance as Bhallaladeva in the country’s biggest motion picture, Baahubali. The actor took part in the Lakme Fashion Week in New Delhi recently and commented about Baahubali’s success and said that he never anticipated Baahubali’s phenomenal impact.

Rana also said that the international release of Baahubali is round the corner as the film will hit foreign shores within a week. We already reported that the international version of Baahubali will be screened at Busan International Film Festival. Hollywood editor Vincent Tabaillon shortened the film by 23 minutes to suit the foreign audiences.

Meanwhile, Baahubali has amassed more than 600 crores at box-offices worldwide.

Baahubali completes 50 Days

100, 175 Days are passe says SS Rajamouli

Even as "Baahubali - the Beginning" (Bahubali) – released on 10 July – successfully completes 50 on Friday at the worldwide box office, director SS Rajamouli says the trend of 50, 100, 175 day run is old fashion.

The movie has collected about Rs 595 crore gross at the worldwide box office in seven weeks. Besides shattering many old records, the Prabhas starrer has become the third all-time Indian movie grosser in the global market. SS Rajamouli, who has impressed the audience across the globe with his master story-telling, is very happy that "Baahubali - the Beginning" has done superb business. But he is against the idea of running the movie for 100 or 175 days for the sake of creating records.

A day before "Baahubali - the Beginning" completed 50 days, SS Rajamouli took to his Twitter handle to express his views. In a series of tweets, the director said he will withdraw his film from the theatres, if it fails to do well at the ticket counters. Here is the lengthy Twitter post:

Record number of 50 days, 100 days,175 days are things of past. Today, Films are being released in 1000′s of screens and run is over by 3-4 weeks. Few main screens might still give shares, but mostly the run is over. It is very sad when some fans ask for an extension, sometimes paying out of their pockets and sometimes asking the exhibitors to do so. Friends..! what do we gain out of these false records?? Audience have given us a memorable victory that we will remember for the rest of our lives. What more do we need? Our industry is plagued by this issue for a long time. Let's not be a part of it. It is high time we stopped this. Bahubali will run in theatres that are yielding shares. If not, it will make way for other new films to follow. We will NOT block theatres for false records.

"Baahubali - the Beginning" will be screened at the Busan International Film Festival and SS Rajamouli will be present on the occasion. On 28 August, the director tweeted: "Baahubali will be screening at Busan international film festival on oct4th, 7th and 9th. I'll Be attending on 4th."

The Importance of Baahubali's Success : The Hindu

Southern Invasion
Editor,Jitesh Pillaai(The Hindu) talks about the importance of Baahubali's success.
Baahubali - the name suggests it’s something out of the ’30s mythological era of films. Back then, bringing to life the various stories associated with our glorious prehistory and our multi-layered mythology was the safest bet to ensure box-office success. The common populace was already familiar with the legends and looked forward to their favorite gods and monsters, heroes and villains, locking horns. People had a field day as good defeated evil once more. Over time, the interest in such films dwindled.

Not that the films became realistic – rather they became even more escapist, if anything. But somewhere the wow factor associated with mythological films waned. The old bottle needed a new spin and that’s what director SS Rajamouli has done in Baahubali starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Tamannaah and Anushka Shetty. He infused cutting edge technology within a heroic tale of valour to create a drama, which dazzles with its stunning visuals and yet retains enough emotional wallop to keep you glued to your seats.

But the success of Baahubali just isn’t important because of the computer wizardry it displays. Yes, it’s true it has set a benchmark in the field. But the most important aspect of its success is that it has emerged as a true pan-Indian film. It’s heartwarming to see that a film starring South Indian stars has entered the 100-crore club in its Hindi dubbed version. It has reportedly earned some 540 crores so far worldwide, which itself might be some sort of a record.

And, mind you, it’s still going strong, still finding shows. It has completed almost 50 days in the theatres as I write. Which recent film managed that feat? Whether we will see a spate of similar films hitting the silver screen remains to be seen.

But South Indian cinema surely has got its poster boy. It will no longer be afraid of its Hindi Bhaijaan’s shadow. This is great news indeed as more and more dream merchants will stop catering to just a regional audience and venture forth for a bigger share of the market.

The continuing popularity of Katappa jokes on social media platforms is an indication that the second part, releasing next year, is going to be an even bigger hit. Keep the humour flowing till then...

For 'Baahubali' A Global Second Wind Is Coming

Article Credits : Forbes
Author : Rob Cain

Baahubali: The Beginning is nearing the end of its domestic run in India having established itself as the country’s highest grossing movie ever, with more than 5 billion rupees (US$75.8 million) in gross ticket revenue. There’s a good chance it will retain that status until its sequel, Baahubali: The Conclusion, releases in India’s theaters in late summer, 2016.

But when it comes to overseas receipts, the SS Rajamouli saga still lags behind the 2014 Rajkumar Hirani-directed comedy PK and Kabir Khan’s drama Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which have earned 3 billion rupees ($45.5 million) and 1.8 billion rupees ($27.3 million), respectively, far more than the 0.8 billion rupees ($12 million) that Baahubali has managed to earn in foreign theaters so far. As a result, Baahubali ranks only third after PK and Bajrangi Bhaijaan in terms of total, gross worldwide box office revenues.

But in conversations over the past week with Mr. Rajamouli (see my upcoming interview with him in Forbes next week) and with Baahubali’s international distributor, I’ve confirmed that there are plans afoot to introduce the film in a big way to non-Indian audiences this fall. So don’t count out Baahubali’s chances for catching up with PK yet.

Vincent Tabaillon, the French born, Los Angeles-based editor of such blockbusters as Clash of the Titans, The Incredible Hulk and Now You See Me is creating a special international cut of the film that will be 20 minutes shorter and will include a few enhancements aimed at global moviegoers. There could even possibly be a 3D version if international buyers support it.

This year Ganesh Chaturthi Special : Baahubali Ganpati

On one side SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali inspired the whole nation with its art and the set and on other hand is slowly nearing the Rs 600 crore mark at the global box office.

Baahubali, which is more of a visual spectacle has been an brainwave to many filmmakers and has set new benchmarks in film making and presentation. But the movie has not just motivated directors only. It has also inspired several idol makers who are making Ganpati models in the same pose as Prabhas from the Baahubali poster.

The Ganpati idols come in both mini and medium sizes and look really delightful. Striking the same pose as the on screen Baahubali from the film, with the Shivling, more and more idol makers have hand crafted such Ganpati idols, ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Now our Ganpati Bappa is more muscular and even has six pack abs to display. The Baahubali styled Ganpati idols are selling like hot cakes in the market as well.

Post the phenomenal success of Baahubali, film lovers across the country stood up and took notice of Telugu Cinema’s macho hunk, Prabhas. The Young Rebel Star in now a pan-India star and his fan base has grown by leaps and bounds.
