Baahubali's BO bull-run continues, mints Rs 160 cr in just 3 days


Baahubali is on its way to rewrite more than a few records at the box office. The film, directed by SS Rajamouli and starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannah Bhatia, entered the hallowed Rs 100 crore-club on the second day of its release. With the third day global collection standing at Rs 51 crore, the film's weekend tally is likely to be around Rs 165 crore

Baahubali: The Beginning, the first part in a two-part war drama, left trade astounded when it earned more than Rs 60 crore worldwide on the first day of its release. The film has been made on a budget of Rs 250 crore, including the upcoming second part in the franchise. The film boasts of great special effects and is being compared to Hollywood films in that department. 

The film dropped a little on Saturday and made a total of Rs 45 crore at the ticket windows. After the third day, the film has made a total of more than Rs 165 crore worldwide, out of which Rs 50 crore were earned outside India. The Hindi dubbed version made Rs 5.15 crore on Friday but its corresponding tally on Saturday was Rs 7.09 crore, tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
The film is going strong at the USA box office too. According to Deadline magazine, the film was second only to Minions in earnings. It made $3 million (app Rs 18 crore). 

Produced by Arka Media Works, the film released in over 4,000 screens in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam. With the distributor nett share of Rs.42.3 crore on the first day in the country, Baahubali surpassed Happy New Year (Rs 42 crore), Dhoom: 3 (Rs 32 crore), Singam Returns (Rs 31.8 crore), Chennai Express (Rs 31 crore), Ek Tha Tiger (Rs 30.3 crore), Kick (Rs 26 crore), PK (Rs 25 crore) and Agneepath (Rs 22 crore).



It has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Heaping praise on Rajamouli, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur said other filmmakers should be as courageous as him. "Filmmakers from South India are showing far more courage than the North. Where are the courageous filmmakers like @ssrajamouli in Mumbai? (sic)," Kapur wrote on his Twitter page.
